3D Scaffold Modelling Case study: Scaffolding Supplies Limited.
Software used: SMART Estimator, Project type: Perimeter Scaffold, Industry: New build
We’re proud to feature Scaffolding Supplies Limited as our February Project of the Month, highlighting their involvement in supplying scaffolding equipment for the Pendry Hotel project in Barbados, a major international development that showcases the global reach of modern scaffolding supply and planning.
From rapid estimating to international logistics, this project demonstrates how digital tools and industry expertise combine to support large-scale construction projects worldwide.
Built on Global Supply Expertise:
Scaffolding Supplies Limited specialise in the supply of new and used scaffolding and system scaffold to contractors across the UK and overseas. Operating primarily online, the company has built a reputation for efficiency and accessibility, offering next-day delivery on most products and fast turnaround on customer enquiries.
Using SMART Scaffolder software to generate accurate material lists from customer-submitted plans, the team can quickly provide detailed quotations and support contractors in planning their scaffold requirements.
The Project: Pendry Hotel, Barbados:
The Pendry Hotel development represents one of the largest hotel construction projects currently taking place in Barbados. Located on the north of the island, the luxury five-star resort will stand approximately 35 metres high once completed.
Scaffolding Supplies Limited were approached to provide a budgetary quotation for the supply of scaffolding equipment required for the project. Following this initial stage, the design was passed to Scaftec, a specialist scaffold design company, to produce the final engineered erection plans.
The scale and coastal location of the development meant the scaffold solution needed to account for challenging environmental conditions, including high winds and exposure to potential hurricane seasons.
Overcoming Logistical Challenges:
While supplying equipment internationally is a regular part of Scaffolding Supplies Limited’s operations, projects of this scale still require careful coordination.
So far, the team has successfully shipped eight 40-foot containers and one 20-foot container of scaffolding equipment to Barbados to support the build. Shipping times of around 14 days transit have allowed the project to continue progressing, although coordinating timely deliveries to site has required ongoing planning and communication.
SMART Estimator in Action:
SMART Estimator played a key role in the early stages of the project, enabling the team to produce a budgetary quotation for the scaffolding supply within minutes.
By quickly inputting the height and size of elevations, the team were able to generate accurate equipment quantities and costs without waiting for a full scaffold design.
SMART Estimator also allowed easy adjustments to key elements of the scaffold plan, such as:
- The number of boarded lifts
- Staircase access requirements
- Changes to scaffold dimensions
This speed proved critical during the tender stage.
“SMART Estimator enabled us to produce a budget cost for the supply of equipment within minutes. Being able to quickly adjust lifts, access, and quantities helped us respond faster than competitors.”
The rapid turnaround helped Scaffolding Supplies Limited secure the contract to supply new Kwikstage scaffolding for the project.
The platform also improved communication with the client by allowing the team to share clear visuals, screenshots, and PDF plans, helping stakeholders better understand the scaffold requirements during early project discussions.
Results & Reflections:
The Pendry Hotel project demonstrates the importance of speed, accuracy, and clear communication when working on international construction developments.
With equipment continuing to be shipped to the Caribbean, the project remains ongoing and highlights how scaffolding suppliers today must be capable of supporting projects far beyond their local markets.
Looking Ahead:
As an internet-based business, Scaffolding Supplies Limited never know where their next enquiry might originate, whether from local contractors or construction projects on the other side of the world.
With digital tools continuing to evolve, the team believes technologies such as AI-assisted design and satellite visualisation could further improve how scaffold systems are planned and presented against real-world project environments.
As they put it themselves: “With the pace of technology and global construction, you never know where the next project might be, maybe even one day beyond this planet.”
Built for Businesses Like Scaffolding Supplies Limited:
SMART Scaffolder helps scaffold professionals and suppliers plan, price, and present projects quickly and accurately, whether the project is local or on the other side of the world.
