BIM Toolbox has robust IFC export

CADS are pleased to announce that its scaffolding IFC file export feature has successfully passed additional internal validation tests.

IFC export was a key element of the recently launched ‘BIM Toolbox’ module; part of the market leading SMART Scaffolder software. The IFC internal tests utilised buildingSMART’s official IFC validation tools as part of ongoing progress towards full buildingSMART ‘IFC certification’. The robustness of the link means that users can take full advantage of the IFC export capabilities today, across a wide range of software, including Revit (see image below), Navisworks and Scia Engineer.

Terry Roberts, Software Development Manager at CADS says,

“We have used the buildingSMART validation tools to check for any non-conformances in our IFC export from our ‘BIM Toolbox’ module.”

CADS have also adopted the IFC validation tools as an integral part of their standard testing regime for every future release of its SMART Scaffolder software, as they move towards full IFC certification.

The Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) data model is intended to describe building and construction industry data. Developed by buildingSMART* (formerly the International Alliance for Interoperability, IAI). The IFC model specification is open and available. It is registered by ISO and is an official International Standard ISO 16739:2013.

BIM (Building Information Modelling) = structured information for use in design, construction & management of facilities and assets.
